Mum, Rafa and I went on a shoe shopping expedition today. The goal was to get some plain, black dress shoes for me.

Mum said that there was hardly any choice. I don’t know what she was on about, the range was AMAZING! Hello Kitty, Dora, Princess Shoes, Glitter tops – boots, sandals, lace ups, velcro and lots of different styles.

So this is what we got. I’m thrilled with them. They have Tinkerbell on the side (my new best friend) and they even light up when I jump! I can’t wait to show Papi my new dress shoes.

I suppose there is just a bit of black in them …. but “plain, black shoes …” Colour defective vision comes to mind, Ana. But they are lovely even if not what Mum had in mind.

Decisions, decisions. Mum must have been thinking of the good old days when there were three options – Roman sandals for summer, black lace-ups for winter and leather T-bar shoes for church. Tell Mum not to splash out too much on shoes in Portland. Being perhaps a little behind the times here in the antipodes, I think we may be able to oblige on the plain, black dress shoe front. Though Mum may need to arrange finance to complete the purchase.

I think that I have detected a bit of project creep here. It is quite insidious you know. You can use this technique of project creep to fool grownups most of the time!
Then, of course, you still need some plain black dress shoes. BINGO!

Do we detect some past experiene in this technique?

Tinkerbell shoes! My Tink would love those… does this mean Dora is superceded?

Tinkerbell, The Disney Princesses and Angelina Ballerina are the best, best friends at the moment. Dora, Strawberry “Pancake” and Hello Kitty are still invited to my birthday party though.

Well ana all I can say is: What do brothers and Mums know about shoes? Who needs plain black when you can have tinkerbell.

Exactly! You totally get it.
