Me and the giant custard apple

Check out this giant custard apple that we got in our food connect box this week.  It’s bigger than my head!  Mum and I have been thinking about creating something interesting with it… as long as I don’t just eat it first!

More about our food connect boxes here and here and here.

What did Mum do with the custard apple, Ana?
Oh – and I see Mum has got you some longer trousers. How long before you grow too tall for those? xx

    • Ana Says:

We haven’t decided yet because it isn’t ready but we’re thinking either crepes with lime, ginger, vanilla and sugar because we got lime, ginger and vanilla in the box. But Mum thought that would make a lot just for her to eat. So the other idea is custard apple muffins which we could freeze. One website also had a custard apple, rhubarb and apple crumble which Mum thought looked nice, but again, it’s a lot for one!

What a delicious combination. If Mum has small ramekins she could make up a little crumble for you and her to share and put the rest in ramekins in the freezer. That way you have single serves ready whenever you want a treat. This is a dangerous thing to do if you are someone who goes through the freezer looking for treats! xx

      • Ana Says:

That’s a great idea – although I asked Mum what ramekins are and she said we don’t have any.
