Out with Los Pollitos

July 31, 2011

We had another afternoon with Los Pollitos, our Spanish speaking play group.

There was a nice play area for us kids which was fun until I discovered that running off and getting behind the bar was much more fun.

Mum and Papi ordered salad so I had to steal Teresa's garlic french fries for something decent to eat.

Adventure park at skibowl

July 30, 2011

Papi’s work summer picnic party was today.  Wow!  What a picnic!  It was held at Mt Hood Alpine Adventure Park at Skibowl.  They organised a BBQ complete with a soda fountain and ice cream cart and then after lunch we got to play in the park.

The park is at Mt Hood. It took us over an hour to get there but the drive was spectacular.

Papi and I went up a big hill in a ski lift.

and came down again at a much faster pace!

I had my face painted just like Meow's.

We played badminton (I aced Papi on this serve).

Went on a pony.

and had my first paddle in a kayak.

There were lots of activities for big kids too like bungy jumping, zip lining, zorbing and indy kart racing.  I think my Papi’s bosses are brilliant at organising picnics!

Accounting

July 29, 2011

My favourite day in the week is the one where Papi comes home from his work trip.  It’s his favourite day too because I help him by calculating his expense claim from the trip.

Urgh Papi! These expenses are higher than usual. What were you doing in Las Vegas?

Homewards bound

July 28, 2011

I like to walk for a bit before jumping into the pram on the morning trek into the office, but it’s a completely different story for the homewards journey.  Mum slopes the pram seat back into a lounge chair position and produces a fresh milk bottle from her bag.  The late afternoon sun is low in the sky so the pram shade is adjusted at just the right angle to keep the sun out of my eyes but the wind can still blow in and tickle my hair.  It also leaves a gap for Mum to reach down and twirl the curls on the nape of my neck when we are stopped at traffic lights and for us to share a smile when I turn my head and look up.  It’s such a delicious part to my day I secretly hope we can do a few extra laps around the block before we get home.

The journey home.

A game of cat and Ana

July 27, 2011

I could hear Meow in the garden.

And then I could see Meow in the garden.

Meow scuttled under a bush

and I crawled after her.

She went down the alley... and I chased after her. I was gaining on her.

Back up the alley... and I ran after her as fast as I could. I was very close behind now.

Up a giant tree.  I had no chance.  Mum declared Meow the winner of that game and we went inside for dinner.

Herbs

July 26, 2011

Inspired by our neighbours plantation at the back of the house Mum, Lucy and I decided we are going to start our own garden.

We chose to grow herbs (hoping they are the easiest to keep alive) and took the spot right next to where the neighbours chillies and cucumbers are thriving.

Mum tipped in the potting mix, Lucy dug the holes and I transferred the plants from their shop containers into the planter.

Then a bit of water. Grow herbies, grow!

Only in Oregon

I guess we can't park here in the Audi.

Thanks to Shelly from CrossFit Hillsboro for the photo.

Sunday Parkways

July 24, 2011

Way to go Portland for Sunday Parkways!  The events are about getting out and exploring different parts of Portland and today was our neighbourhoods turn to host it.  Today was a 6.4 mile (10.3 km) walk around the NW, Downtown, Old Town and the Pearl District with lots of fun things and entertainment to do along the way.

The roads are cleared of traffic. Today cyclists, rollerbladers and strollers ruled the streets.

At one of the stops we had crepes and Papi and I got into a deep discussion about my hat.

Mum and I had a boogie at Waterfront park. Dancing with river views is the best.

Further along the river I cooled off in the fountain. I didn't get quite as soaked through as yesterday though.

OBT and H2O at Director Park

July 23, 2011

The Oregon Ballet Theatre set their studio up in Director Park this week so Portlanders can watch rehearsals and join in on their classes.

I had to stand up on Mum to see the rehearsal because there were lots of tall people in front of me.

It was a beautiful day and so I couldn't resist playing in the water at the break.

After I got rid of my wet clothes and dried off it was time for the ballet class. We warmed up with plies.

Does anyone know how many times you can enter an incorrect passcode into an iPhone?

Mum wants to know…

I slide the unlock bar across and enter some numbers but I haven't cracked the code to get into Angry Birds.
