Ana-mals

November 30, 2011

Before dinner, I roar like a lion

But after dinner and a bath, I'm more like a monkey.

In my monkey PJs, and boots, of course.

Busted

November 29, 2011

Lucy and I got busted snooping in the kitchen cupboards after bedtime.

We were promptly ushered back to bed.

Which I wasn't thrilled about. Lucy seemed to take it in her stride.

We were both fast asleep only moments later.

Watching the world

November 28, 2011

There are always so many interesting things happening outside our window on a Monday morning.

Oh! There's the UPS truck. I hope he has a parcel for me.

Knock, knock, knock. "Hey! Mr UPS guy!"

I said, "HEY!!" "I'M UP HERE!"

I guess there are no deliveries for me this morning.

You won’t BELIEVE what we did today!

MORE shopping.  GROAN.  Fortunately we had a successful morning and bought a sofa which was the last of the items on the list.  Phew!  I’ll be looking forward to being back at the office tomorrow.

I'm sick of buying things for the house so I went to browse the wrapping and cards section instead. Who can I give a Diego card to?

More consumerism

November 26, 2011

We hit the shops for a second day in a row.

At Standard TV and Appliances I got to put my feet up and watch Rumpelstilskin on the big screen whilst Mum and Papi bought a washing machine and dryer. I know who had more fun there.

And at Costco I even got something to eat whilst the sofa that Mum and Papi wanted had sold out. I think we know who's today's winner is!

Black Friday

November 25, 2011

The day after Thanksgiving is called Black Friday and it is the biggest shopping day of the year in the US.  The holiday starts the Christmas shopping season and almost every store has big promotions running and opens really, really early, some stores are even open at midnight, but we weren’t up that early.  Apparently the term “Black Friday” was coined to describe the madness of the traffic and jam-packed shops but now has also come to mean the day in which retailers are “in the black”.

I liked this big leather rocking chair lazy boy but the 50c in my savings isn't quite enough to buy it.

Thankful for turkey and pie

November 24, 2011

We've just participated in the eating marathon also known as the great American tradition of Thanksgiving.

It included one very big turkey, which Justin cooked to perfection!

and five types of pie - pumpkin, pumpkin cheesecake, traditional apple, raw apple and apple tart.

After I was full to the brim Kim helped me settle it all inside.

We have so much to be thankful for and we’re particularly thankful today for being included in such a wonderful celebration with friends.  I think Thanksgiving should be celebrated everywhere.

Through the window

November 23, 2011

Papi has been in town all week and has been giving me a lift to and from the office.  It’s my job to knock on the front window when we’re home to get Mum up from the office and let us in.  Mum says when she sees me there, it’s the best part of her day.

Hola Mumma! I'm home!

The hunt is over (we think!)

November 22, 2011

The vendors said yes!! With a few more checks and approvals we'll be in our new home by Christmas (fingers crossed). From now on instead of going to open homes on the weekends we'll be packing!

Only in America

November 21, 2011

Only in America... the marmite at the supermarket is kept with the cake icing, cupcake papers and marzipan

Only in America... firearms need to be checked in at the gate at a music event

Only in America... this an appropriate cake portion "for two"
