The weekend chores were smashing

Well, the Saturday chores went fine:

We sorted out the garage, unpacking the very last of the boxes.

and put up the parilla.

and put up the parilla.

But today:

The clock went up only to come smashing down a few minutes later (Papi managing to rescue Raffy just in the nick of time).

And the hole in the mask arrangement wasn't by design. The mask Mum bought on her first trip to Chaco smashed (it was already a little dinged up from the bus crash Mum and Papi were in on that trip) and a little later the monkey fell and broke his earring. I think we're going to have to rethink our hanging strategy.

Mum’s gone to pour herself a glass of wine as we speak.  I think she’s over moving.

Apart from the hole in the middle the mask arrangement looks like a map of Australia! !

If your Mum and Papi are using plastic hooks with sticky backs, you could let them know we are having more and more problems making them stay on paint surfaces – even when we use humungous ones. Fortunately our latest hook failure was with a painting that had no glass. Whew! (PS – I am sure Mum and Papi know that the hooks need to be there for at least 24 hours prior to anything being hung on them – but even then, we have been having probs.)

Mum has been using them for at least 7 years, maybe longer, without any issues (we’ll only the odd minor incident). We’re not sure if it’s the new paint or what’s different here but we’ve decided that these walls are just going to have to cope with holes.

Kiwi Communicator is not aware of the last installment – she does not know yet – that the painting she talked about crashing down has just done it again. Within the last minute!
I think that we will sleep on it. Tomorrow is another day.

    • Ana Says:

We took the same approach. We ending up taking most of the masks down last night (after a few more fell) and we’ll deal with it later.

If you read the packet it.says not to be used for anything breakable or antique or expensive or sentimental or over hard floors or over beds! In other words anything and everything could fly off the wall and smash on the floor or your head!

Hey, you have the West Island – how about North and South?
