First stop, the famous Cafe Du Monde
For beignets and coffee
We reckon we had the be st seat in the house, right by Robert Harris and his busking band
After breakfast we met a Mule named Sugar.
She invited us for a ride around the French Quarter
On the tour Sugar’s human co-worker told us all sorts of interesting stories
About Madame Pontalba being shot in the chest 4 times by her father in law and surviving; that the clinic by Bourban street does the most liver transplants in the US and the age expectancy of residents around Bourbon street is 65 – akin to Bangladesh! He showed us shot houses (4 rooms deep all attached to each other), Brad Pitt and Angela Jolie’s house and pointed out the oldest bar in the USA and the church which was residence to the French nuns who wrote to President Jefferson to ensure they would be well looked after the US purchased Louisiana from France.
We were allowed to give Sugar her snack when we got back to Jackson Square. She certainly deserved it after all that hard work.
