My new howdah

February 13, 2011

Today we tried out my new howdah on our family trek at the Glass House Mountains an hour north of Brisbane.

It was a very comfortable ride around Mt Beerwah in the morning.

Papi tickled my toes as we trecked on the lookout loop in the afternoon. I returned the favour by singing to him the whole way.

I had a much bigger audience to sing to at the Lookout Cafe in Beerburrum.

Life’s a beach

February 5, 2011

Playing in the water was the best bit.

The beach is a great place to make new friends.

My job for the sandcastle construction was to put the sand in the plastic pots. I thought the sand might be tasty, but it wasn't.

Back in Brissie

January 3, 2011

We’re back in Brissie and have already returned to our charmingly simple morning routine.  Arhhh, it’s a good life.

Papi and Mum put their running shoes on and we headed down to the city gardens.

Whilst they sweated it out I relaxed with a drink.

Then out for brekky (in one of my new Christmas tops!) Normally we'd go to 'Pane e Vino' but they were on holiday too. Luckily we managed to find a suitable alternative spot because a morning without coffee is a disaster.

Christmas in the city

December 17, 2010

the elves were whispering secrets to me

the Christmas fairy was extremely tall and very nice

the baubles took me for a spin

Papi and I were enjoyed listening to the band

Girls weekend away

November 21, 2010

Sophia and I decided to take a break from our busy city lives and have a relaxing weekend at North Stradbroke Island.

We took the ferry over together

and we rented a house with big red chairs that we chased each other around

There was a massive sandpit across the road

and a massive swimming pool

We took our siesta outside in the breeze

We used special transportation for the North Gorge walk

Wow! What a great weekend away

Mt Tamborine

October 30, 2010

Mum, Kim and I had a girls’ day out at Mt Tamborine.

We did the skywalk

Went to the cheese factory

And I challenged Kim to a crawling race across the balcony at the Hilltop Chapel cafe

Strawberry Wednesday

October 20, 2010

Wednesdays are my favourite day of the week because on Wednesdays Mum and I stroll up to the city farmers’ markets, buy the biggest punnet of strawberries we can find, then sit down together and demolish the lot!

The home of lamingtons

September 11, 2010

We went to a great exhibition at the Museum of Brisbane where they have copied photos of Brisbane from 100 years ago on scannable slides so visitors can decide what goes on the big screen.  In some of the photos the people were dressed in very funny clothing!  My favourite photos were of places that I could recognise, like this one of Government House taken in 1908.  I also found out that in the 1890s Lord Lamington lived there and his cook created the first lamington!  (For non Australians who don’t know what this Aussie icon is, click here)

Can I take this long blonde hair home?

July 11, 2010

Sunday in Brisbane is always a good day to catch up with friends in the South Bank Parklands.  Especially if one of the friends has long blonde hair.  I thought if I tugged really hard I might be able to take some home with me.  Sorry Jane!
