Travelling fun

November 20, 2014

It’s always a long day when you’re at the airport before Mr Sun has got out of bed.

Despite the early start we were far more interested in the activities Mum packed for us than sleeping.

Transiting through Miami was a breeze with our new bags. And we got to ride the Sky Train!

Nope! Still not tired!

But when we got to the hotel we ate then crashed!

Suitcases

October 12, 2014
It was so exciting to choose our own suitcases for our upcoming vacation.

It was so exciting to choose our very own rolling suitcases for our upcoming vacation.

We practiced rolling them as soon as we got home.

Then I thought I'd get a head start on the packing. My swimmers, nightie, pillow for the plane and new Princess Sofia book.

Going home

April 30, 2014

Leg one:  PER – SYD.

Movies and lunch. All good.

The 4 hour flight went pretty quickly with lunch and tv.  We then spent 14 hours in a Sydney airport hotel.

Leg two: SYD – LAX.

We didn't mind the delay at all. It meant time in the airport playground, new toys thanks to Qantas apology vouchers and the time came off the wait at the other end anyway!

We were back at the airport bright and early but our 10am flight was delayed until after lunch.  We didn’t mind the delay at all. It meant time in the airport playground, new toys thanks to Qantas apology vouchers and the time came off the wait at the other end anyway!

Apparently the lights are turned off so we can all get some sleep.

Leg three: LAX – IAH.

I still had enough energy to read everyone the safety card as I have done on every flight.

By the third flight I knew the safety instructions so well I thought I should be demonstrating them to everyone.  Apparently I’m supposed to be quiet through that bit though.

I told Mum that we wanted to play all of this flight too.

Then I told Mum that we wanted to play all of this flight too.

But a few hours of sleep did feel good. So good in fact neither of us wanted to wake up when we got to Houston so Mum and Papi had to carry us off the plane.

IAH > LAX > SYD

April 15, 2014

Our trip got off to a bad start with me vomiting, Papi feeling sick and a momentary hiccup with Rafa’s Australian visa.

We had everything back on track by the time we had departed Houston and had dug out things to do from our activity pack.

Flight one down, followed by 5 hours to hang at LAX.  We thought the new terminal was gorgeous with its new shops and restaurants and giant digital art screens.

The kids area was super cool too. We surfed a little then played tag with some bigger kids on our flight (who Rafa had no problems tackling to the ground). We ran until our cheeks were red.

We slept for about 3/4 the 14 and a half hour flight with our new travelling blankets and pillows (Dusty and Sofia the First themed).

And for the first time I signed my own Incoming Passenger Card. A-N-A.

About 30 hours after we left home in Houston we were getting off the train in the Sydney CBD.

We’re supposed to be on an international flight in less than 12 hours, and…

I'm sick.

I’m sick.

And to add insult to injury, Mum made me put Carlos in the wash.

No sympathy from Ana. She's too busy downloading "Super Why?" into the iPad.

Packing the essentials

September 8, 2013

Mum has spent the afternoon packing our summer clothes and swim wear into suitcases.  Surely this means something good is about to happen.

But wait!!! Something is missing!

But wait!!! Mum has forgotten something essential.

We can't forget the iPad!

We can’t forget the iPad!

And we'll need this so it cankeep going and going.

Okay, NOW we’re packed and ready to go.

A day in San Francisco Airport

April 18, 2013

We arrived at San Francisco feeling not too shabby considering we’d just got off a 12 hour flight.  After clearing customs and immigration, rechecking our bag for Portland, walking over to Terminal 3, another security check and a bathroom stop for teeth brushing and a change of clothes (Rafa gulped down his milk as we started to descend and then brought it all back up again just after the seat belt sign went on so both Mum and Rafa were a bit stinky).  We were all ready for our next flight, except that we still had another 7 hours to fill in at Terminal 3.

A couple of hours were spent at the playground. Both Rafa and I made some new friends.

A couple of hours were spent at the playground which we found between gates 87 and 89. Both Rafa and I made some new friends so Mum sat down and had a coffee.  Who said she wasn’t going to get a break travelling with us two?

And another hour or so playing with the books, princess dolls and games Mum had packed for us.

Rafa enjoyed watching the planes.

We spent quite sometime looking for dinner because despite the wide range of options I just wanted a peanut butter sandwich. Except their peanut butter didn't taste like I was used to so we went back to get bananas and apples.

We spent quite sometime looking for dinner because despite the wide range of options all I felt like was a peanut butter sandwich. But their peanut butter didn’t taste like the peanut butter I was used to so after all that we went back to the food court to get bananas and apples.

Rafa and I nodded off when Mum was walking us around the shops. When we woke up she was having a foot massage!

Back at the gate and ready to board. It would be nice to see the Golden Gate Bridge or go on a tram ride or something like that next time we visit San Francisco.

A sunshine welcome

The trip was, as expected, long. Especially the big wait between planes at LA airport.

But after 24 hours of travel we are at Abuela and Iggy's house. It took me no time to find a ballerine costume (just my size!) and for Rafa to find food.

22.9 kilos

Mum is proud of her travel preparation efforts.  Not only has she fitted everything in one suitcase (so there is a spare hand for us) but it’s 100gm below the weight limit.  I might stick in another pair of pants…

unpacking Ana's Princess water bottle.

I’m sure “don’t touch” doesn’t apply to Ana’s Princess water bottle.

She won't mind sharing.
